US packaging and label printer Meyers has invested in its fourth MPS Systems press – a 530mm, 10-colour EF flexo press, equipped with GEW AeroLED UV curing and AVT Helios inspection system.

MPS claims that by utilising IoT, the EF press helps customers optimise production by identifying possible bottlenecks and automatically suggesting areas for improvement.

‘With this fully automated MPS EF next generation press equipped with a side load die station and Martin Automatic butt splicer, Meyers is adding a real ‘label monster’ to our production fleet,’ commented Donald Patterson, Meyers print manager.

The partnership between the Minneapolis-based printer and MPS dates back to 2008 with the installation of Meyers’ first MPS press.

In 2017, Meyers became the first printer in North America to purchase an EF SYMJET hybrid press combining the automated MPS EF platform and the Domino N610i 7-colour digital UV inkjet label press.

‘Our press operators find the MPS presses easy to set up and user-friendly,’ said Dave McConnon, COO at Meyers. ‘With the fully automated print stations, sophisticated job memory, and the unique and proven MPS Crisp Dot and patented E-Sleeve technologies, we go a step further as our operators can focus on what is really important: delivering the highest of print quality possible to our customers.’

Mr McConnon said the GEW AeroLED UV LED system would significantly reduce power consumption and total cost of ownership, while the AVT Helios 100% inspection system will integrate quality control in the press.

“In today’s challenging production environment with short leads times and more make-readies, press downtime is unacceptable,’ Mr McConnon added. “The MPS presses have proven to be durable and reliable over time with available and prompt service and support when needed.’

Founded in 1949, Meyers is a print manufacturer specialising in packaging, label, and retail display.
