Italian-based Emmetre reports on significant quality and productivity gains after the company expanded its production with digital flexo imaging capability with a Esko CDI Spark 2420.

The installation also makes the company the first printer in Europe to adopt the latest model of Esko’s CDI family. It was bought to improve the quality of labels and to gain more efficiency in the way jobs are managed.

Moreno Berro, director and pre-press manager, said, ‘We are known as a flexible company, always able to quickly respond to market demands. Our investment in Esko’s CDI Spark 2420, as the very first one in Europe, demonstrates our high level of innovation. The CDI is equipped with magnetic drum and vacuum system, and works with all the brands of digital flexo plates available on the market, as well as with polyester based digital typographical plates, or steel based with typographical options. Thanks to this solution, we can provide our customers with the confidence of knowing that they will consistently receive high quality printed materials from us.’

The company delivers self-adhesive labels on any material and in any format customers may require. It operates three production lines that include two letterpress machines, a UV flexo system, a finishing line and two lines for label quality assurance.

In order to no longer depend on plate production services, the company decided to upgrade its pre-press department with a digital system. ‘We searched a solution that would allow us to independently manage all jobs, while enabling us to be more efficient,’ commented Mr Berro. ‘We began testing the CDI Spark 2420 beginning 2013 using our own files, and installed it shortly after. The CDI system enabled faster, trouble free production flows and improved the print quality of our labels. Our customers noticed the difference immediately.’
