Spanish printer, Ovelar, has broadened its shrink sleeve production capacity through the addition of a new MPS combination press, its fourth investment from the Dutch press manufacturer for the growing labelling technology.

In addition to flexographic plates, rotogravure printing units are also integrated into the new press which can apply various types of high-quality inks or vibrant graphic effects to shrink sleeves.

Jesús Ovelar, CEO of Grupo Ovelar commented, ‘This new press is intended for production of highly complex shrink sleeves, which brand owners are increasingly adapting in their packaging portfolios, as a way to further differentiate themselves in a highly competitive market. This investment will further strengthen our position in this segment.’

Grupo Impryma, the local MPS representative in Spain led the sale and, according to its CEO Félix Prieto, requests for this type of combined press have increased, ‘MPS has specialised in this segment in recent years by designing very complex machines with a much higher number of printing units, resulting in more finishing options than has traditionally been provided by rotary presses.’
