Bobst has launched a modernised Masterfold folder-gluer range for corrugated board converting, claiming the new systems deliver “greater production efficiency, simplified operations and exceptional safety”.
The manufacturer added that increased automation capacity, and new digitalisation and connectivity capabilities serve to streamline set-up processes, delivering “maximum operator-friendliness”.
Masterfold 170/230/300 are equipped with HMI Sphere, enabling a link to the Bobst Connect data platform, facilitating a range of data-driven decisions and remote job setup. Pneumatically locked feeder ramps streamline changeovers, while feeder setup is simplified and accelerated by a fully Matic blank aligner.
“The machine setup time in general has been reduced by up to 20 minutes,” said Sacha Bourgeois, RD&E director of the folder-gluer line. “Automated positioning of the transfer and delivery section alone adds up to 15 minutes of productive uptime for repeat jobs.”
Further automation of the Masterfold line is possible with peripherals such as the SpeedPack automatic packer and RoboLoader and RoboPalletizer for fully automated blank loading and batch or bundle palletising.
“With the enhanced Masterfold, we’re going beyond the machine itself to combine connected workflows, automation and dedicated data support. It’s all about helping converters reduce setup times, improve consistency and get more value from every job by giving them the tools and insight to run their operations more efficiently, every day,” said Pierre Binggeli, head of the folder-gluer line, peripherals and robotics at Bobst.
