Koenig & Bauer has announced that development of its High Board Line corrugated print machines is to be concentrated at the Italian site of the Celmacch division that was acquired by the business in 2022.

Describing it as a “strategic realignment” of the High Board Line portfolio, the company said that development of a new Chroma X Pro flexo series will be pursued at Koenig & Bauer Celmacch’s facility in Desenzano del Garda, with support for the existing series remaining in the main headquarters in Würzburg, Germany. The series will continue to offer the options of flexo printing only, or flexo with rotary die-cutting unit.

The Koenig & Bauer Celmacch site will become a “central centre of excellence” for all High Board Line machines. This means that the entire Chroma portfolio (Chroma Smart, Chroma High Tech and Chroma X Pro series) will be developed there, enabling utilisation of synergies and efficient integration. Koenig & Bauer says this facility is characterised by “agility and flexibility”, and that this would allow for quick decision-making and a high degree of responsiveness.

The decision follows a three-year analysis of the strengths and potential for optimisation within the High Board Line portfolio of the partnership between Koenig & Bauer and Koenig & Bauer Celmacch.
