Label producer Royal Geostick Group has announced the purchase of a new Master M5 press from Bobst, as part of efforts to expand its production capacity for multilayer labels.

The press, configured with 12 flexo units, a double unwinder, and a QN module, is expected to be installed at the company’s facility in Uithoorn, The Netherlands. The investment is intended to enhance efficiency and support medium- to long-run label production.

The move continues a longstanding collaboration between Royal Geostick and Bobst. The company has previously invested in All-in-One Digital Master platforms and is now increasing its conventional flexo capabilities to address growing market demand and broaden its application range.

Industry demand for multilayer labels is expected to rise further with the introduction of EU Regulation 2024/2865, which will take effect in July 2026, said Bobst. The regulation introduces stricter labelling requirements, including additional on-label information and more detailed formatting rules. Multilayer labels are seen as a practical solution for meeting these requirements.

Royal Geostick stated that the new press will enable the company to produce multilayer labels at scale in a single pass, while maintaining efficiency and reducing waste. The Master M5 includes automation features, high-speed performance, and integration with Bobst Connect to support production workflows.

Cees Schouten, chief operating officer at Royal Geostick, said the investment reflects the company’s focus on improving productivity and meeting evolving customer needs, particularly for longer-run and multilayer label applications.

Jordi Giralt, technology sales director in PL label, at Bobst, added: “Royal Geostick demonstrates how a clear vision, combined with leading technology, creates market leadership. What’s particularly compelling about its approach is the combination of digital and conventional flexo capabilities, not as competing technologies, but as complementary tools for different run lengths and applications. That end-to-end thinking is exactly where the label industry is heading, and we are proud to support them on this next chapter of their growth.”
