Herma UK has expanded its technical capability within its adhesive materials business with the appointment of Matthew Sutton as sales technical manager in response to intensifying regulatory pressures.

Mr Sutton brings experience in self-adhesive materials, particularly pressure-sensitive adhesives and their influence on label performance. His background includes work across both large-format and label converting environments, with a focus on material selection, adhesive performance and aligning specifications with converting technology, application processes and end-of-life requirements.

A key part of Mr Sutton’s role will be supporting the rollout of the company’s new Technical Partnership Service (TPS). The initiative is designed to provide converters with technical guidance earlier in the project lifecycle, including at the quotation, specification and development stages.

According to the company, the service will offer structured advice on material and adhesive selection as well as support for trial design with clearly defined success criteria. The aim is to reduce the likelihood of issues emerging during production or application and to minimise avoidable re-specification.

TPS will also incorporate a structured complaint triage process and root-cause analysis to help identify underlying issues and reduce repeat problems. While Mr Sutton will be closely involved in customer engagement, the service has been designed as a cross-functional offering aligned with the wider Herma Group approach to collaboration.

The company said its expertise in pressure-sensitive adhesive development underpins the service, combining adhesive knowledge with application insight to support converters and brand owners as they respond to evolving sustainability, regulatory and performance requirements.

The introduction of the TPS, alongside Mr Sutton’s appointment, forms part of Herma UK’s strategy to strengthen its technical support for converters operating in an increasingly complex label materials market.
