Live central impression (CI) flexo printing on recycled and mono-material substrates will take centre stage at the Sustainable Flexo Symposium 2026, scheduled for May 5–6, 2026, highlighting automated workflows designed to deliver stable, high-quality results, according to Asahi Photoproducts.
The event, which immediately precedes Interpack, will highlight advancements aimed at achieving consistent, high-quality results comparable to gravure printing, said the organisers.
The two half-day symposium will be held at Follmann’s Technology & Knowledge Centre in Minden, Germany. The program will focus on automation-driven plate-to-print workflows and their application to flexible packaging production involving recycled content and mono-material designs. Organisers say the demonstrations will address industry challenges related to process stability, colour consistency and print quality as converters adapt to increased use of post-consumer recycled (PCR) content and thinner film structures.
Live printing sessions are expected to include reverse and surface printing on transparent OPP, MDO-PE, PCR-based PE films and paper-based packaging materials. The workflow on display will combine water-wash plate technology, water-based inks, anilox technology and automated process controls.
In addition to production demonstrations, the symposium will feature technical presentations covering sustainable film structures, inspection and quality control for recyclates, and integrated automation across the flexographic workflow.
Participating companies include Esko, Asahi Photoproducts, Follmann, Pamarco, PetroPlast, OCS, tesa and Allstein.
According to organisers, the event is intended to provide a practical forum for suppliers, converters and brand owners to examine flexographic approaches to circular packaging production and regulatory alignment ahead of Interpack 2026.
