Packaging solutions provider VPK Packaging UK & Ireland has installed a new Bobst flexo folder gluer 618 machine at its Selby site.

The move follows the VPK Group’s wider UK and Ireland investment initiative, announced as part of its 25th anniversary, aimed at strengthening capacity and innovation across its network.

The Bobst flexo folder gluer 618 is designed for small casework volumes and can produce up to 26,000 boxes per hour. The machine includes a fully automated stacking system, rapid set-up capability, and Bobst’s Posilock system for rotary die-cut shells.

Karl Pennell, plant general manager at VPK Selby, said the installation will enhance the site’s flexibility and efficiency in meeting customer demand. “The Bobst 618 gives us the speed, automation and precision we need to run smaller case volumes more efficiently,” he said. “It will reduce downtime, improve consistency, and increase capacity to support growth in key sectors.”

VPK has 70 plants across 21 countries and a team of 7000 employees. The company specialises in three key divisions – recycled paper, corrugated packaging and its specialities with solid board, and cores and edge protectors.
