Corrugated packaging manufacturer Durham Box has appointed Percy Sowden as general manager, with the new arrival becoming responsible for future-proofing the business in terms of business optimisation, strategic investments and staff development, alongside day-to-day site management.

Mr Sowden has more than 25 years of experience in engineering and project management positions and worked for Nissan Motor Manufacturing before moving into the corrugated packaging industry with companies in the UK and the Middle East.

’Having a diverse background from different industries, I bring a broad range of expertise to the team and will be looking to build a short, medium and long-term plan around how we manage operational excellence and business growth, said Mr Sowden.

Business growth is certainly on the agenda for Durham Box, and managing director Dan Morris said the Mr Sowden would help in ‘building the foundations for the business to thrive as we continue to expand in the years to come’. The Logson Group acquired a majority shareholding in the business in June 2023.
