Press manufacturer Mark Andy has launched a new mobile device-accessible real-time monitoring system designed for label and packaging converters, that it says will reduce waste, increase capacity and improve productivity.

The cloud-based system – given the name sMArt link – is said to offer a range of advanced capabilities. These include the ability to provide remote monitoring and real-time troubleshooting from desktop and mobile devices, enabling production managers to keep track of production processes from anywhere and at any time. In turn, this will allow them to make better informed decisions and to optimise press utilisation.

Another feature of the system is ‘comprehensive’ data tracking capabilities, including machine performance, material usage and labour efficiency, which will give users the opportunity to identify production bottlenecks and inefficiencies and to make adjustments that serve to improve productivity.

Compatible with both new and existing Mark Andy presses, the system can also be used with other makes and models, including digital presses.

‘We believe sMArt link will fundamentally change the way the industry monitors performance and optimises press utilisation,’ said Gretchen Tobol, product manager for flexo presses at Mark Andy. ‘We can’t wait to see the impact it will have on the industry.’
