Erhardt+Leimer Ltd has recently signed a distribution agreement with Kelva AB to take responsibility of sales and service for the whole of the UK for the complete range of Kelva equipment, which includes web cleaning equipment, both contact and non contact and ink pumps. Kelva was looking to improve the sales activities in the region, and as it had already had similar successful agreements with E+L in the USA and Italy, it had confidence to implement a similar agreement in the UK.

During the discussions, it became clear that the two companies already shared a common customer base and would be able to integrate both equipment types with the same sales force. After some initial training, E+L will be able to handle directly most enquiries for sales and service requests. Kelva will still be on hand to offer a back up service as and when required. E+L is confident that the equipment offered by Kelva meets its own high quality and reliability standards.

In addition, the Erhardt+Leimer Group has signed a cooperation agreement to sell worldwide a range of thickness and basis weight measurement equipment manufactured by MeSys GmbH, a company situated near its headquarters in Augsburg, in Germany.

The new range, which is marketed under the name ELTIM, includes an innovative non contact non radiation basis weight and /or thickness measurement of thin materials like paper, plastic and also electrically conductive materials like aluminium, gold or coatings. The patented ultrasonic technology has many advantages over the commonly used radioactive systems, especially in terms of calibration and maintenance. The range is based on the smart frame concept originally developed by Mesys. This concept allows precise measurement of the individual layer thickness with an accuracy of 0.5% to 0.2% – even in combination with other substrates. Precise recipe specification or repeated calibration will lead to even better values. In a first step, the proven ELSIS surface inspection system has been added to the innovative and patented components of the system, such as the DAC measuring method, the USM ultrasonic sensor and the MM2 jockey roller. This combination allows the new ELTIM to provide a noticeable improvement in quality and profitability. It is a highly attractive solution especially for the printing, paper and film industry and once again both companies share a very similar customer base.
