Manufacturers of packaging for the FMCG sector, Clifton Packaging Group Ltd has made a multi-million pound investment in an Evo XG wide web flexo press from Flexotecnica, due to be installed in December at its premises in Leicester.

The new machine is expected ‘to take the achievable quality to the next level with high definition results.’ Managing director, Shahid Sheikh explained, ‘The Evo XG8 will further expand our productivity, quality and operational efficiency with tis advanced high tech features and will allow us to manufacture more unique and innovative designs, giving our customers a vital competitive edge.’

The Evo XG platform from Flexotecnica features market leading technologies that will further strengthen Clifton Packaging’s position as a high quality packaging producer. This includes an automated impression setting system, AIF, which together with zero speed register adjustments can set impression and register in under 100 metres, reducing set up waste. A 100% AVT video inspection system will further enhance the press to give full reel mapping and reporting for defect free reels in combination with online colour measurement for excellent print quality control.

The press also has pipeless doctor blade chambers with patented profile design for maximised printing speeds and enhanced doctoring performance and dot reproduction. In addition to this, the Evo series of machines incorporates energy efficient motors and enhanced drying tunnel efficiencies reducing the carbon footprint while maximising productivity and sustainability. Similarly, the press can print with water-based rather than solvent inks, eliminating the regulatory constraints and considerably reducing emissions.

The company has a fully equipped in-house design studio and design team with extensive knowledge of the packaging process, from design and concept (including packaging mockups and prototyping), printing and manufacture, through to conversion and packing. It is also a certified Esko HD Flexo partner.
