A larger format, water-processed platemaking system from Miraclon has been installed at press manufacturer Windmöller & Hölscher’s (W&H) technology centre in Germany, giving it the ability to demonstrate a broader range of customer applications and press configurations.
The Flexcel NX Ultra 42 replaces a NX Ultra 35 that had previously been located at the Lengerich facility, extending a longstanding partnership between the two manufacturers.
“Our Technology Center plays a key role in showing converters how individual technologies come together to form an efficient and industrially scalable printing solution,” said Frederik Petzold, director for technical sales at W&H. “In close partnership with Miraclon, we integrate leading platemaking technology into our press demonstrations to set the benchmark for end-to-end flexographic system performance.”
Mr Petzold added that the multi-form plate surface patterning and stable ink transfer characteristics of the new platemaking system will allow W&H to “showcase our presses operating at optimal efficiency — highlighting wider process windows, faster stabilisation on press, and the repeatable print quality converters expect when evaluating advanced flexo technologies”.
For Miraclon, chief commercial officer Grant Blewett said the collaboration with W&H provides a “powerful platform to demonstrate the real‑world impact” of its Flexcel NX technology, including the benefits of solvent-free and VOC-free platemaking, which he said “delivers consistent ink transfer, stable on‑press behaviour and highly predictable results”.
“Seeing it in action at W&H provides a compelling example of how modern flexo delivers efficiency, sustainability, and production control for converters around the world,” he commented.
Also part of the set up is a FlexPose 420 ECDLF exposure unit from Glunz & Jensen, which is equipped with Miraclon’s Shine LED Lamp Kit, for improved productivity and energy use.
