XSYS has published its first comprehensive Sustainability Report, outlining how the company is incorporating sustainability into its business strategy and operations.
The report covers the company’s activities across the flexo printing value chain and follows the integration of MacDermid Graphics Solutions, providing a sustainability framework for the expanded XSYS organisation.
The report is structured around XSYS’s sustainability vision, “Advancing Sustainable Print”, and three strategic priorities: “Innovate: Designing for Impact”, “Operate: Reducing Environmental Impact”, and “Empower: Empowering Our People”.
Among the areas covered is the development of technologies intended to reduce environmental impact while supporting printing performance. These include lower-impact and bio-based plate technologies, imaging solutions, automation and plate-processing technologies designed to use fewer resources.
XSYS said longer-lasting plates, reduced waste and more efficient workflows can help printers and converters reduce resource consumption while maintaining productivity.
The company has also produced Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) reports for nine flexo plate products. According to XSYS, the products covered accounted for half of its plate revenue in 2025. The reports are intended to give customers greater visibility of the climate impact associated with their purchases.
Within its own operations, XSYS said it is focusing on energy and climate impact reduction, waste minimisation, chemical management and resource efficiency. The report also covers measures relating to workplace safety, talent development and organisational culture.
The report has been prepared with reference to recognised sustainability reporting frameworks, including IFRS/ISSB and SASB. Selected performance data has undergone independent assurance, while the report also identifies areas where the company says further improvement is required.
“At XSYS, we view sustainability as a practical business lever. It shapes how we develop products, run our sites, manage waste and circularity, and prepare the organization for the future,” said Alexander Unterschütz, CEO of XSYS. “Our goal is to create solutions that help customers improve both their environmental performance and their business performance. Sustainability is increasingly becoming part of how competitive advantage is created throughout the value chain.”
