Clear Film Printing has installed a new Koenig & Bauer XD Pro Mod 127 flexographic press at its manufacturing facility in Kaufman, Texas, increasing its production capacity and expanding its printing capabilities for flexible packaging used primarily in the fresh food industry.

The family-owned company reports that the new press has increased productivity by approximately 50 percent. The equipment enables full-colour printing on stretch film and overwrap materials, including Cryovac, Clysar, Red Rock Films, Bollore, Berry Plastics, and Vanguard films. The installation also supports broader colour capabilities and additional finishing processes such as slitting, converting, and lamination.

“With our new Koenig & Bauer XD Pro, we have stepped into the future,” said Daylon Olivarez, general manager of Clear Film. “Our company continues to experience strong growth due to our expertise in printing on very low gauge film that wraps and protects meats, poultry, and other fresh food produce items. Our new workhorse flexo press gives us the ability to provide customers with all of their flexible packaging needs under one roof – from printing, slitting, converting, and laminations.”

The XD Pro CI flexo press is an eight-colour system designed for high-speed production and consistent print quality. According to the company, the press occupies a smaller footprint than previous equipment and includes updated digital features aligned with Industry 4.0 standards, along with a new dryer system intended to improve efficiency and reduce energy use.

Operators use an interface with 24-inch touch screens to manage press functions, including speed, substrate tension, dryer temperature, and registration. The company states that the system provides greater control and repeatability during production.

“This installation has demonstrated our strong commitment to our customers and their products,” says Mr Olivarez. “The new XD Pro CI flexo press allows us to continue our outstanding print production and customer service.”
