Fogra, the research institute for media technologies, has announced a range of new training courses, including a flexo-based course, as part of its 2025/2026 Fogra Web Academy season.

Launched in 2020, the Fogra Web Academy is based on a concept of delivering one hour of expert knowledge every Monday, live online, in English and based on Fogra’s ongoing research and standardisation work. Participants can join live or access the recordings later via a media library.

Courses cover a wide range of topics across the entire production process—from colour perception, measurement and management to substrates, inks, printing technologies, finishing and quality assurance. Fogra says special attention is given to standardisation, sustainability and practical troubleshooting, and all sessions are structured to combine scientific foundations with immediately applicable know-how.

New this year is the ProcessStandard Flexo course, which Fogra describes as presenting a “newly established flexographic standard designed to support consistent colour output, reliable contract proofing, and reproducible production workflows”.

There are three additional new courses being launched, all developed in close alignment with Fogra’s research and consultation activities. These are:

  • PDF in Prepress: introduction to methods for optimising, validating, and troubleshooting PDF files for professional print workflows. Topics include format selection, colour consistency, and technical integrity.
  • Proofing: overview of proofing systems and validation procedures, with emphasis on calibration protocols and ISO-compliant evaluation of physical and digital proofs.
  • Visual Appearance: examination of surface effects beyond colour – including gloss, sparkle, and texture – and techniques for accurate representation in decorative and industrial print environments.
