Michael Behrens, CEO of Vetaphone, has identified the tough competition in the market as the company looks to improve on the foundation set by founder Verber Eisby.
Having been CEO of the company since December 2024, the first time in Vetaphone’s history that leadership has passed outside the founding Eisby family, Mr Behrens believes the company is now preparing to expand its capabilities under new executive guidance. He said: “While we’ll need to make changes to grow the company even more, I want to reassure our customers that nothing will be lost to them in terms of expertise, commitment to ongoing development, and service – and, for the time being at least, the ‘Vetaphone family’ touch that customers have come to know and appreciate will continue.”
Mr Behrens said he was familiar with Vetaphone by name but only came to understand its specialised technology during the recruitment process. Now embedded in the role, he says his early impressions have been confirmed. “There’s great alignment between our values and leadership styles. It’s made for a smooth and productive start.”
Mr Behrens has identified both opportunities and challenges ahead. Internally, he aims to maintain the company’s strong culture while increasing agility and structure. Externally, he stresses the importance of strategic customer partnerships. “Surface treatment is complex – we’re not just selling equipment, we’re providing knowledge. Education and support are key parts of our value proposition.”
While some changes are inevitable, Mr Behrens said he is committed to preserving what makes Vetaphone unique. “The Eisby legacy is vital. Frank and Jan remain actively involved, leading business development and educational initiatives. Their expertise is invaluable.”
As the company moves forward, Mr Behrens believes evolution is vital for remaining competitive. He concluded: “Standing still isn’t an option.”
