Excelitas Technologies has updated its Phoseon line of UV LED curing systems, integrating Modbus TCP communication protocol into several products. The company said the update is designed to give manufacturers improved flexibility, control, and compatibility in automated production environments.
Suitable for flexo applications, the enhanced systems – including FireJet One, FireJet FJ100, FireJet FJ240, FireLine FL400, and FireLine FL440 – now support both RS485 and Modbus TCP protocols. This dual compatibility makes the equipment easier to integrate with a wider range of automation and process control platforms, particularly those that rely on ethernet-based communications, said Excelitas.
The addition of Modbus TCP enables faster and more efficient data exchange, along with remote access and monitoring capabilities, explained the company. These features can support real-time diagnostics and proactive maintenance, potentially reducing downtime and improving operational efficiency.
Key functional upgrades, according to Excelitas, include ethernet-based communication via Modbus TCP for faster system interaction; individual control of Semiconductor Light Matrix (SLM) intensity, allowing for better energy management; improved firmware with remote update capabilities; real-time system monitoring for predictive maintenance; and UV confirmation signal to help ensure consistent operation.
“Adding Modbus TCP allows our customers to operate in more automated and faster-paced environments, while keeping the performance and reliability they expect,” concluded Joe Becker, director of product management at Excelitas.
