UK-based manufacturer and printer of flexible packaging Alfaplas has launched Alfablue – a packaging film to aid UK manufacturers and printers reduce environmental impact and plastic packaging tax. Developed in direct response to market demand for trusted solutions, the company believes its product leads a wave of change in sustainable packaging.

The Alfablue portfolio includes four variations – PCR, PCR PRO, PCR MAX, and Compostable – offering flexible, high-performance solutions tailored to different manufacturing needs. The company said each PCR variant guarantees at least 30% accredited post-consumer recycled (PCR) content.

Alfablue is the first UK-produced film to receive third-party accreditation for PCR content, claimed Alfaplas. The verification, conducted through an Intertek audit, confirms compliance with the Association of Plastics Recyclers’ (APR) internationally recognised standards. This independent certification assures brands of genuine sustainability credentials and eligibility for tax exemptions, which Alfaplas believes sets its solution apart in a market often dominated by unverified environmental claims.

Phil Brown, commercial director at Alfaplas, emphasised the importance of trust and compliance in the packaging industry. “As a trusted supply chain partner to UK retailers and FMCG brands, Alfaplas supports key sectors including food and drink, household goods, and horticulture, by ensuring compliance and giving customers the assurance to buy their packaging with complete confidence,” he said. “The launch of Alfablue strengthens our commitment to delivering sustainable, innovative packaging solutions that brands can trust.”
