Toyo Printing Inks, part of the Japan-based artience Group, has opened a new production facility in the Manisa Organized Industrial Zone in western Turkey. The plant was built with a reported investment of $70 million (£52.4 million) and aims to boost production capacity and innovation capabilities for the company’s operations in the region.
The facility, which spans 62,500 square meters, will serve both domestic and regional markets. Company officials say the factory is designed with an emphasis on energy efficiency and sustainability, incorporating automation systems and advanced technologies. Among the products expected to be manufactured at the site are lamination adhesives and water-based inks, including specialised inks for metal packaging.
Yakup Benli, CEO and Board member of Toyo Printing Inks, commented: “This factory is not just a production facility—it is a symbol of the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.” He also noted that the company aims to double its production capacity and reduce dependence on imports by producing key materials locally.
Kenichi Kasahara, the Consul General of Japan in Istanbul, echoed the sentiment, citing growing economic collaboration between the two nations. “Economic relations between Japan and Turkey are continuing to strengthen,” Mr Kasahara said. He referenced historical cooperation between the countries and described the new investment as a continuation of this longstanding relationship.
Satoru Takashima, CEO of the artience Group, added: “The high-quality inks and adhesives produced here are crucial for sectors like food packaging. With Turkey’s location, we can expand into neighbouring regions more effectively.”
The facility is also expected to focus on environmentally conscious production methods. Mr Takashima mentioned plans to introduce water-based and high-performance inks as part of the factory’s second phase of operations.
