Crown Labels has hailed a 30 year partnership with RotoMetrics as key to its success. The working relationship between the Redditch-based label producer and American rotary die manufacturer goes back to the 1980s, shortly after Crown was founded by Paul Board.

Now managed by Mr Board’s sons, John and Chris, Crown employs 20 people and generated sales of labels and tags in excess of £3.6 million in 2018. Using a range of modern narrow web flexo presses from Nilpeter, Mark Andy and converting equipment from AB Graphic, Crown supplies to a cross-section of the industry.

‘My father and Neil Lilly began the working partnership many years ago and we have enjoyed nothing but the best service from RotoMetrics ever since,’ said John Board. ‘They have helped and advised us at all stages of our growth, and are brilliant problem solvers on any tricky job.’

Mr Board admitted that there are cheaper options, especially from Asia, but praised the way RotoMetrics treats small and large customers alike, ‘You get what you pay for and in our line of business we need to get things right first time, so the speed and quality of service is as important as the quality of product.’

In addition to the standard tooling on Crown’s presses, RotoMetrics has also supplied a Pin Eject die for a special mailing job. This die contains a special core material that allows hardened ejector pins to compress into the die upon contact with the anvil.
