Wantzen, agent for machine manufacturers in the UK and Ireland, will be liquidated at the end of April this year. Managing director Tom Wiltshere, who has spent 20 years with the company, will retire at the same time.

Wantzen was founded in 1888 by a German immigrant named Anton Wantzen, with the original business being the manufacture of paper bag machines from his London based factory. In 1904 Wantzen was appointed as the agent for German company Windmöller & Hölscher (W&H), covering the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Mr Wiltshere commented, ‘ although I am sad to be the one that finally closes Wantzen I am also very happy to be able to retire in good health after working all my adult life in the packaging industry. All good things must end, and I am looking forward to spending many (hopefully) long years lazing around and spending more time with my wife.’

W&H will take direct responsibility for managing its business for the UK and Eire Markets.
