EFIA has announced the appointment of Keith Hullah, group technical manager, inspirepac, and Neil Jones, managing director, Bobst UK & Ireland, to the board of the association.

In July, the board received the resignation of Barry Ferne due to his recent retirement from Sun Chemical. Mr Fearne had been an active member of the board, getting heavily involved in the development of Academy 2, supporting the Annual Print Awards, as well as providing strategic insights to the flexographic market and how EFIA needed to develop. His contributions have been very much appreciated and he will be sadly missed, said the board.

‘It is not often recognised that the board of EFIA is run on a completely voluntary basis, and therefore securing senior members of the industry to commit time and effort to the association can be tricky. I’m therefore absolutely delighted that Keith and Neil have recognised the important contribution that EFIA makes to the success of the flexo industry in the UK and Europe, and that they are prepared to get involved and drive us forward into 2013,’ said chairman David Galton.

Neil Jones commented, ‘It was an easy decision for me to make having being invited to a board meeting to see what goes on and understand the strategy of the association. There is great passion in the room to drive up the standards of training and technical excellence in the UK flexo industry, and I’m pleased to think that I can give something back to the industry that has supported me for my career.’

Keith Hullah said, ‘Having previously participated as a judge in the Annual Print Awards, I was keen to get involved in supporting the association and to help deliver best practice in our industry through the EFIA Print Awards process. The association does a great job of recognising what print excellence looks like through the Awards, and the new Academy 2 is extremely exciting for our industry. We are working with Learning Aid to develop Continuous Professional Development and certification for printers to close the gap that we’ve lived with for too many years, and any contribution I can give to make that happen is a super opportunity.’

The date for the 2012 Annual General Meeting has also been confirmed for Thursday October 11, at the Red Hall Hotel, Bury, Lancashire, where all the EFIA board members, new and old, will be available for questions.
