Tony Spooner, production supervisor, with AM Labels’ new investment

Based in Kettering, AM Labels has recently installed a four colour Edale Alpha compact flexo press to help deal with its growing label demands.

The ISO:9001 certified company, founded in 1996 by current managing director, Tony Mariani, has grown and developed over its 17 year history; starting out in business by selling desktop printers before expanding into label manufacturing after acquiring Applied Labels in December 2008.

The company took ownership of the new Alpha press at the end of April. Tony Spooner, production supervisor, explained, ‘Edale was the obvious choice for our next investment due to us already owning an Edale E250S. We knew we could trust the company and liked the reliability of a British made press, and being able to support British engineering at its best.’

AM Labels will be using its new Alpha to produce synthetic labels for pharmaceutical and chemical companies, along with a wider range of water-based and UV labels. It is also looking at producing a wider variety of labels for food companies, and going forward, will look into the production of four colour process work and over laminating.

The new Alpha joins an older Edale E250S machine which was purchased when the labelling side of the business was first started, and continues to run to this day.
Mr Spooner continued, ‘The Alpha appealed to us for many reasons; the compact footprint and the fact it is compatible with our existing E250S tooling. I have run the E250S and so it was easy to translate my knowledge onto the new machine. The quality and service we have received is second to none, Edale has built a press not only to last, but also with operators in mind.’
