Company founder, Gerhard Metz, turned the first spade of earth at a ceremony to mark the construction of a new building on IST Metz Group’s Fabrikstrasse site in Nürtingen-Zizishausen.

Since the company moved from Wolfschlugen to Zizishausen in 1985, construction machines have rolled out to Nürtingen’s industrial area 10 times.

At the beginning of this year the extension of the building of the subsidiary, eta plus electronic GmbH, had just been finished. As a result, its production area has doubled. Now there will be a new building constructed in Fabrikstrasse opposite the subsidiary gerhard metz metallbau GmbH.

The building in Fabrikstrasse 8 was purchased in 2006 from the company Kiener. Since then it has been used as a warehouse for the group.

Architecture firm, Klein Sommer Camuti, has been charged with the planning once again. It has designed all the other IST buildings and will now once again bank on energy-efficiency on the basis of the latest standards.

After the completion of the three-storey building in early 2015, S1 Optics GmbH and parts of gerhard metz metallbau GmbH will move into the building and hence enlarge its production area.
