Demos were shown on the hybrid XFlex X6 flexo/offset

In a three day open house event held on 6-8 May, 2014, Omet displayed its products to more than 150 companies resulting in three presses being sold.

The open days were held at the headquarters of Omet in Lecco, Italy, and included a visit to a customer who owns an XFlex X6 with the combination of flexo and digital inkjet.

The JetPlus inkjet digital unit has concluded its test phase on a machine, which has already been producing for a few months at the label converter located near Lecco. The company hope to have the unit available to order at Labelexpo 2014.

Customers from all continents attended demonstrations on its entire range of modular, multi-process printing presses and saw the latest innovations the company has to offer.

The event featured two main press improvements, the double unwinder on XFlex X4, which is available across the range, and the flat-bed hot foil and embossing, integrated in-line on the XFlex X6 offset with three UV flexo units, five offset sleeve groups, cold foil on rail, rotary die-cutting and the ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll’ matrix rewinder.

The double unwinder is a semi-automatic unwinding system for ultra-fast change of the printing substrate; it can save several minutes in the changeover process and increasing the productivity and profitability of the machine with any type of run.

During the event, the machine was printing several jobs demonstrating the simplicity of job and die-cutting exchange, using the Monotwin Cut system.

The company was also presenting Varyflex V2, multi-technology modular platform dedicated to the printing of flexible packaging and one ‘full flexo’ XFlex X6.
