At Labelexpo Asahi is focusing on the AWP plate which it believes can give printers a measurable cost saving as well as high quality print.
According to the company, when analysed against solvent plates, the AWP showed a 33% increase in uptime coming mainly from reducing cleaning times.
In order to help customers determine whether the plate would actually save them money the company has set up an online calculator for them to work out exactly how much they would save with the AWP plates.
Another side of the plates cost saving abilities come from the fact it can be used in fixed gamut printing, which relies on the plate to give a consistent layer of ink onto the substrate throughout the entire print run.
Dieter Niederstadt, technical marketing manager, said, ‘We are still a chemical company at heart, and so we create our plates using the raw materials we know well and this makes us different from the rest. I feel emotional about this because I can see it is working and although there is a lot of hype around digital technology, we can meet many printers’ needs with the developments made in flexo. We can see the reality that it is not just all about digital.’
