(L-R) Neel Madsen, Michal Lodej and Rob Mulligan

Whitmar Publications has announced the appointment of Michal Lodej as editor of FlexoTech magazine, taking over from Neel Madsen, who will concentrate on further developing the sister title, Digital Labels & Packaging.

Having worked as a content editor and social media specialist for a number of years after finishing his journalism degree, Michal first joined the specialist trade publisher in early 2013 as online editor. He quickly developed the role taking on news and features writing, as well as video production, for the entire portfolio of magazines and online channels, and currently works as assistant editor on FlexoTech.

Publisher and managing director Rob Mulligan said, ‘FlexoTech has grown significantly over the past few years which reflects the need for high quality packaging in today’s consumer driven world. Developments and improvements are never far away in the flexo industry and the magazine will continue to bring news of these to the reader. However, there is a new driver out there. There is a need for short run and versioned packaging. Digital printing is, at last, starting to take a firm foothold in this market. Already established in labels, its versatility is becoming recognised by printers and brand owners alike. This growth will continue and in recognition of that Neel Madsen will now concentrate on developing this exciting and relatively new area of our industry.’

The official handover date is 1 June. Neel will remain with FlexoTech as managing editor in the short term and will also continue to contribute articles.

Neel said, ‘As an invaluable member of the Whitmar editorial team, Michal has played a vital part in the growth of the magazine. Having worked closely with him over the past three and a half years, I have no doubt that I am leaving FlexoTech in safe hands. I now look forward to taking Digital Labels & Packaging to the next stage.’

‘It is a great honour to have been appointed editor of FlexoTech, a title which I have developed a great respect for during my time at Whitmar Publications. I look forward to continuing the hard work put in by Neel to keep this magazine at the forefront of the market,’ commented Michal.
