The Miraflex II A flexo press runs at up to 400 m/min

Windmöller & Hölscher opened the doors to its Lengerich headquarters during the K trade fair for plastics and rubber in October. Adding to its portfolio, it took the opportunity to introduce the Miraflex II A flexo press.

The press is available in a printing width of 820-1450 mm and runs at up to 400 m/min. It features the new Turboclean Advanced E inking unit and wash-up system, which has been developed with electric pumps to offer an 80% reduction in energy usage compared to pneumatic pumps.

‘Whereas commercial illustration printing is declining, packaging printing is a growth market. This year’s drupa confirmed this fact once again,’ said Ulrich Harte, manager marketing, printing and finishing machines. ‘We want to further expand our leading position in this market. That is why we already offer packaging printers the most comprehensive machine portfolio for printing flexible packaging materials, from narrow machines for short jobs and very fast job changes to highly-automated systems with high output.’

As part of the Expo, UK pre-press specialists Reproflex3 was promoting its Project Blue technology in collaboration with Sandon Global and hubergroup. Two jobs were demonstrated on the new Miraflex II C press, which was first introduced at drupa in June. Joint managing director Andrew Hewitson said, ‘High quality flexo is not just about the printing process itself; it is about connecting all the components.’ Two flexible jobs were shown, both printed on 12 micron PET and both featuring interactive Shazam technology.
