Avery Dennison’s AD CleanFlake RFID label solution has received RecyClass Technology Approval in Europe, adding to an earlier Association of Plastic Recycler (APR) Design Recognition in North America.
The manufacturer said this makes it the first RFID solution to be recognised by both major regional bodies for compatibility with mechanical PET recycling streams, meaning that multinational brand owners can utilise a “technically unified label construction” across international supply chains. This supports efforts to deploy high-performance tracking while streamlining material sourcing and structural packaging data for international reporting, said Avery Dennison.
AD CleanFlake RFID uses the company’s CleanFlake adhesive technology, alongside patent-pending RFID inlay and label construction. Avery Dennison said the combination ensures that RFID tags are separated cleanly from rigid PET during the mechanical recycling process. The two regional recognitions apply specifically to the label component and adhesive construction’s compatibility with recycling processes under specific testing conditions.
