Swiss packaging producer Wintipak is hoping to set new economic and sustainable benchmarks in the aseptic packaging sector, after investing in new flexo technology from Heidelberg.

The 600m/min Boardmaster inline flexo press is to be installed at the company’s Halle factory in Germany, enabling Wintipak to realise up to 90% cartonboard waste savings in startup, as well as being able to make job changes in a matter of seconds. This will allow the company to produce multiple orders per day at lowest production cost, it said.

The press is also equipped with Intellimatch – a scanning solution that uses AI to detect defects on the printing cylinder at an early stage. The Boardmaster was chosen after an extensive evaluation process, according to Wintipak, with a need for extra printing capacity being identified in response to increasing production volumes. The company held a ground-breaking ceremony for a new production hall at Halle in summer 2025.

“Heidelberg’s extensive experience together with their latest innovation for drastic production-cost reduction at highest quality level have been decisive factors for Wintipak’s investment in the Boardmaster platform,” said Markku Vauhkonen, CEO of Wintipak AG.
