Soma welcomed more than 60 packaging industry professionals to its Esperienza Center in Carmignano di Brenta, Italy, for a demonstration event focused on sustainable flexo printing technologies.
The event brought together converters, printers and industry partners from across Italy to examine developments in water-based printing, coating, colour management and press automation.
During the event, attendees viewed live demonstrations of the Soma Optima2 flexo press equipped with Intelligent Printing Unit (IPU) technology. The demonstrations featured water-based printing and coating on plastic substrates and highlighted approaches aimed at improving production efficiency, reducing waste and maintaining print quality while supporting sustainability objectives.
Visitors were also introduced to Soma’s Anilox Management system with an integrated Anilox Cleaner. The system uses RFID-based tracking to provide visibility into anilox condition and management. According to the company, the technology is designed to reduce setup times, minimise operator errors and help maintain consistent print quality by ensuring the correct and properly cleaned anilox is used for each job.
The programme included presentations from industry partners Sun Chemical, Simec, Ulmex, Esko and BST. Topics covered included packaging solutions designed to comply with the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), flexo pre-press workflows, web inspection systems and print process automation.
“The strong attendance and engagement demonstrated the growing interest in sustainable flexographic production and process automation,” says Matteo Melegatti, area sales manager Soma. “The Esperienza Center continues to serve as a platform where customers can experience innovations in real production conditions and discuss practical solutions for future packaging challenges.”
