Ink and coating manufacturer Druckfarben has introduced several new products to its portfolio, incorporating low nitrocellulose (NC) and NC-free inks, and an expansion into UV curable inks.

The PU Ultima series is a range of polyurethane or PU-based inks, across three distinct systems: PUF for flexo printing; PUR for rotogravure; and PUX – a hybrid PU system with low NC content, suitable for both reverse and surface printing. Both PUF and PUR are NC-free, PVC-free and compatible with mono-material packaging structures, according to Druckfarben, and “selected PU Ultima products, including matte overprint varnishes, have received “Made for Recycling” certification from Interzero.

PUX Hybrid, which is the low NC content system, offers, says Druckfarben, a “universal solution for standard-demand BOPP and PET laminates and surface applications”. It delivers higher lamination bond strength, and lower solvent retention for “near odourless” packaging. Druckfarben describes operational advantages as fast lamination capability, improves ink transfer efficiency, reduced mechanical wear, and lower cost-in-use through optimised printing performance.

Finally, the UV Ultra Cure Flexo Inks series is an expansion of the company’s portfolio, with products designed for high-value and speciality applications requiring fast curing, precision and durability, the company said.
