Print industry media professionals were gathered for a preliminary media day for the Printing United Expo in Orlando, Florida, on the 20 October 2025. 

The media day included presentations from Canon, Fujifilm, Durst, Kornit, Agfa, Muller Martini, STAHLS’ and Mimaki, followed by a 1-2-1 networking session. 

Alliance Insights started the day by sharing its findings from its latest research project, providing insights on industry trends. 

Nathan Safran, vice president of research and Lisa Cross, principal analyst, helped describe the state of the industry with their findings. 

From among the surveyed printers, so far the first three-quarters of 2025 have been hard. On average sales increased by just 0.6% for 37.1% of the respondents, with sales flatlining or declining for the rest. 

Operating cost inflation outpaced price increases and pre-tax profitability increased for just 23.8% and was flat or down for the remaining 76.2%. 

The surveyed printers highlighted increasing sales and maintaining profitability as their biggest priorities. Other priorities for print businesses were productivity, cost control, automation and higher value sales.
