Packaging producer Zeus has acquired UK paper sack and packaging manufacturer Simpac, in a move that expands Zeus’s presence in sustainable packaging and broadens its manufacturing capabilities across Europe.

Founded in 1903, Simpac operates facilities in Hull and Glasgow and employs over 130 people. The company supplies paper sacks, food wraps, carrier bags, and e-commerce packaging to UK retailers, food producers, and agricultural businesses. Simpac generates more than £30 million in annual revenue.

The acquisition brings together Simpac’s experience in fibre-based packaging and Zeus’s European infrastructure. Simpac’s product range includes recyclable mailers such as the Good-e bag and its Deliver-e Lift Liner for grocery delivery and click-and-collect services. The company also manufactures tamper-evident liners, branded paper bags, and recyclable food wraps including foil, parchment, and clingfilm. Its paper sacks are used in agriculture for transporting root vegetables, animal feed, and farm inputs.

Zeus, which operates across a range of packaging sectors including corrugated cardboard, film extrusion, tapes, and retail bags, said the acquisition will enhance its offering across both the UK and Europe.

“This acquisition strengthens our capability in fibre-based packaging and complements our operations in food, retail, e-commerce, and agriculture,” said Brian O’Sullivan, founder of Zeus. “Simpac brings a strong track record in product development and manufacturing that aligns with our sustainability goals and customer needs.”

Simpac’s managing director Sandy Bole said the deal would provide new opportunities for growth and innovation. “Joining Zeus gives us access to greater resources and international reach, enabling us to accelerate product development and expand our customer base,” he commented.
