XSYS has announced the upcoming launch of the Thermoflex Edge, its third-generation laser imager for flexographic platemaking. The system makes its global debut at Labelexpo Europe 2025 and will be commercially available starting March 2026.

The company said the Thermoflex Edge is designed to improve productivity and imaging precision in flexo plate production. It supports surface screening resolutions of 2400dpi and 2540dpi, using Woodpecker Nano screening, and delivers imaging speeds of up to 8.5 square meters per hour. According to XSYS, the system helps reduce current bottlenecks in surface screening, allowing for faster implementation and more flexibility in adapting plates to varied printing demands.

“With Thermoflex Edge, we are taking flexo platemaking into an entirely new era,” said Steven Vandevoorde, general manager at XSYS PrePress. “This imager represents a milestone of decades of innovation at XSYS. Combining precision, productivity, and highest quality in one platform, it sets a new standard for what platemakers and printers can expect from imaging technology.”

The new platform is based on an open architecture, making it compatible with a range of existing workflows and systems. It also features a modern user interface, and modular automation options, enabling users to scale operations over time. The system is built with durability in mind and includes design features that reduce manual handling, aiming to improve overall efficiency and reduce operator errors.

In addition, XSYS has included options to support sustainability initiatives. The Thermoflex Edge can be paired with the company’s EcoFillX software, which helps minimise solvent use and material waste during platemaking. The system also accommodates a range of plate types, including partial and thick plates, further broadening its application range.

XSYS states the new system will also benefit from its remote service infrastructure, aimed at maximising uptime and reducing long-term maintenance costs for customers in the flexographic printing industry.

Pre-orders for the Thermoflex Edge 80 model are now open, with a second model, the Thermoflex Edge 48, scheduled for release later in 2026.
