Costa Rica-based packaging producer Etiplast has installed a new Nilpeter FA-22 flexographic press to expand its production capacity and support growth in flexible packaging markets across Central America.

The FA-22, designed for high automation and print quality according to Nilpeter, is the company’s flagship flexo platform. Etiplast has shaped the new press specifically for flexible packaging applications, including coffee bags and shrink sleeves. The press is equipped with inline solvent lamination units and will initially focus on packaging rather than label production, despite being capable of both.

Etiplast currently operates two Nilpeter FA-14 presses, primarily used to produce adhesive tape for the agro-industrial sector. Some of this production will be shifted to the FA-22, freeing up capacity on the FA-14s for increased label output. The company is known for its role in supplying tape for fruit packaging and has been active in packaging development for over 30 years.

“The new press supports our efforts to improve efficiency and expand into new applications,” said Adolfo Madrigal, operations manager at Etiplast.

Nilpeter’s regional sales manager, Juan Pablo Patino Arevalo, acknowledged the long-standing relationship with Etiplast and noted the press’s potential to support new production capabilities.

The FA-22 is expected to be fully operational later this year.
