Flexo press manufacturer Windmöller & Hölscher (W&H) and thermal management specialist technotrans have signed a framework agreement to supply the jointly developed TurboClean Advanced E ink supply system. The system will be used exclusively in W&H flexographic printing presses.
The agreement reinforces technotrans’ leadership in fluid management for print applications and represents a strategic revenue boost in its core market, stated technotrans. The company claims the agreement will secure it an order volume in the low double-digit million-euro range.
Developed through a multi-year collaboration, the TurboClean Advanced E system is a solution tailored to meet growing industry demands for efficiency, sustainability, and user-friendliness in flexographic printing. The system is especially used in applications such as packaging film printing, explained technotrans.
“At technotrans, we see this as a significant growth impulse in the print sector,” said Michael Finger, CEO of technotrans. “The solution we developed with W&H delivers measurable advantages in energy efficiency, sustainability, and operating cost reduction.”
According to technotrans a key innovation of the system lies in its electrically operated piston pumps, replacing the traditional pneumatically driven diaphragm pumps. This results in energy savings of up to 80%, quicker colour changes in as little as five minutes, reduced ink loss, and extended maintenance intervals. The use of low-wear components and statically loaded seals enhances durability, especially against abrasive ink particles.
The collaboration included close integration between the two companies, with technotrans assigning a resident engineer to W&H during development and testing phases to ensure seamless coordination.
“Our goal was to develop a system that meets W&H’s high performance and sustainability standards,” said Dr Björn Feldhaus, head of printing press development at W&H. “technotrans translated our vision into a robust, future-ready solution. We’re excited to continue our successful partnership.”
The agreement secures W&H’s exclusive access to the TurboClean Advanced E system for its presses, strengthening both companies’ commitment to technological innovation and environmental responsibility. Further co-development and optimisation of ink supply systems remains a shared strategic objective. W&H press users can retrofit the Turboclean Advanced E ink supply system by contacting their usual W&H representative.
