Ink manufacturer Siegwek and X-Rite Pantone have collaborated to create Colorwerk FastMatch Cloud – a cloud-based colour management solution for label and packaging printing.

The product combines Siegwerk’s ink formulation expertise with X-Rite Pantone’s colour science and technology. The companies said the resulting colour correction and quality control solution helps converters to improve colour consistency across locations, while reducing waste and downtime.

“With FastMatch Cloud, we transform how colour data is managed in packaging printing,” said Kiran Deshpande, global senior expert for colour management at Siegwerk. “By combining Siegwerk’s formulation expertise with X-Rite Pantone’s colour science and cloud technology, we enable customers to work with reliable, standardised colour data anytime and anywhere.”

Among the features of FastMatch Cloud are the ability to use press-returned ink in new matches or batches, minimising aged ink inventory, which reduces cost and space. The system can deliver formula calculations in under 20 seconds, and this speed, along with integrated QC tools, helps converters to significantly increase their initial colour match rate, the companies said.

A Siegwerk customer, CL&D, has already used FastMatch Cloud and said there have been tangible improvements in day-to-day operations, including faster colour matching and more stable production workflows. “Since transitioning to FastMatch Cloud, we’ve seen big improvements – and we love it,” reported Kevin Wemple, plant manager at the firm.
