Supplier of inks and coatings Flint Group has introduced Flexocure Leap, a new range of UV flexo inks developed to help label and packaging converters meet increasingly stringent migration compliance standards in food contact packaging applications.
The inks are based on a newly developed resin system designed to reduce the risk of photoinitiator (PI) migration in food contact materials. The new formulation aims to improve regulatory compliance by stabilising PI compounds during curing, thereby minimising migration into packaging substrates.
Marc Heylen, senior director of narrow web R&D and technology at Flint Group, noted the increasing regulatory pressure on ink formulations and printed packaging, stating that the new ink range provides converters with a safer and future-ready option to meet compliance demands.
Flexocure Leap is designed for versatility across a range of substrates, including materials such as polyethylene (PE), and is suitable for both labels and flexible packaging. The inks offer high curing speed, strong colour strength, and good adhesion, while also aiming to simplify migration testing and reduce compliance-related costs for converters.
Paul Winstanley, vice president of technology and product management, emphasised that the development reflects Flint Group’s continued focus on regulatory compliance and support for long-term business stability in the narrow web printing sector.
Flexocure Leap will launch first in Europe, with a wider global rollout planned in the near future.
