Fotolito Veneta, based in San Martino Buon Albergo, near Verona, has installed the Kodak Flexcel NX Wide System with Digicap NX Screening and Prinergy Workflow.
Since the installation the pre-press flexo printing company has witnessed reduced response times, less waste and increased productivity, resulting in increasing job orders.
The company wanted a new system that would satisfy those customers in search of larger plates and increased productivity. Using the Kodak Flexcel NX Wide System the company is no longer restricted by size limits at all, because the new CTP achieves the same exceptional quality and productivity in the 1067 x 1524 mm format plates.
Alfredo Storace, flexo production manager, explained, ‘Our mission is to do all we can to make the quality of flexo printing as close as possible to gravure, but only with the Flexcel NX Wide System has it been possible to push flexo to the limit and equal the quality of gravure. In particular, we have tried to demonstrate that we could easily better the 40/48 line limit even in flexo. In fact, today we can supply 60 line flexo plates as a standard and our customers are satisfied. But there’s more – by guaranteeing excellent print quality we have earned the trust of new customers such as Dal Colle, Paluani, Melegatti, Perfetti and Bofrost.
‘There’s a new trend among print buyers. Now that they’ve been able to see for themselves the print quality that can be achieved, they are opting for flexo printing for products traditionally printed in gravure. Preconceived ideas of the poor quality of flexo and the limited range of materials that could be flexo printed are being consigned to the past, and the growth potential in this area is tremendous.’
