Labelexpo will see launch of the Bobst M8, a new flexo press printing in web widths up to 1070mm, at a maximum speed of 400m/min.
Described as a high-speed, highly automated print production and finishing system for flexible packaging and related work, the press incorporates the company’s Digital Flexo concept. This offers control of the press through closed loop operations that enable fully automated pre-register and adjustment of the print pressure and register, along with camera-based print quality/PDF inspection.
‘These capabilities will have momentous effect on today’s market dynamics, with their golden rule of diversify to succeed,’ commented Matteo Cardinotti, managing director of Bobst Firenze and head of the narrow and mid-web multi-process product line. ‘Most printing companies today know they need to diversify in order to grow or even maintain revenue streams, and many label printers have been adding equipment to produce short run customised packaging to complement their revenue,’ he continued. ‘The new Bobst M8 press is uniquely suited to forward-thinking label printing companies that want to move into the flexible packaging market in a way that exceeds contingency needs to allow strong and sustainable growth in this sector.’
The press prints with UV, water- or solvent-based inks on a wide range of substrates, including plastic and aluminium filmic materials, laminated tubes and paper in a roll-to-roll configuration, while a special version converts cartonboard up to 600gsm.
The official unveiling of the new M8 line will take place on the first day of the show, Monday 25 September, at 4.30pm.
