German label printer Barthel Gruppe has signed for its 24th MPS press, a six-colour, fully-automated EF 430 flexo printing press.

Barthel Gruppe is a group of six label printing companies with manufacturing plants in Germany and the Netherlands. It began as a label producer for fresh produce and is today a specialist in printing self-adhesive labels for many markets including food, wine & spirits, home care, cosmetics, pharma, chemistry & automotive -ranging from simple to highly sophisticated decorative labels.

MPS and Barthel have maintained a long-standing partnership, with this EF 430 flexo press marking Barthel’s 24th MPS purchase. Frank Kuntke, sales manager of MPS Systems (Germany) said, ‘After 18 years, Barthel remains a loyal MPS customer. It’s truly an honour receiving this additional sale for our EF multi-substrate flexo press, as a testament of the value MPS provides in label printing, innovation and service.’

Mischa Barthel, managing director of Barthel Gruppe added, ‘From years of partnering with MPS, we can confidently rely on MPS’ press technology, robustness, and service when we need it. Our MPS presses consistently deliver the same stable results – regardless of the operator that runs them. That is why we put our trust in MPS again, and look forward to enhancing label production with our new EF 430 press.’

The company employs over 300 people and has a yearly revenue of circa €70 million. Headquartered in Essen (Germany), Barthel is a fixture in the European label market producing approximately 270,000 square meters of labels daily at four locations, while enjoying steady growth.
